The Myth of Parvovirus Vaccines
The original virus causing parvovirus was termed CPV2.
- CPV2a, CPV2b, and CPV2c were later identified as new antigenic types of virus.
- CPV2b is currently the most common isolate from diseased dogs.1
- A study showed that vaccines which contain a CPV2 strain help protect dogs against virulent infection with CPV2c.1
- Appropriate vaccine titer and passage level are important considerations for vaccinating puppies.
