The Myth of Parvovirus Vaccines

The original virus causing parvovirus was termed CPV2.

• CPV2a, CPV2b, and CPV2c were later identified as new antigenic types of virus.
• CPV2b is currently the most common isolate from diseased dogs.¹
• A study showed that vaccines which contain a CPV2 strain help protect dogs against virulent infection with CPV2c.¹
• Appropriate vaccine titer and passage level are important considerations for vaccinating puppies.
