Maternal Antibodies
Vanguard® Plus CPV overcomes maternal antibodies to produce a strong immune response.
- Puppies born to dams with immunity to CPV are initially protected by maternal antibodies acquired through colostrum.
- These maternal antibodies can interfere with the effectiveness of a vaccine-induced immunity.
- The average half-life of CPV maternal antibodies is approximately 10 days.1
CPV hemagglutination inhibition titers ≥ 1:80 protect puppies from infection, but titers between 1:40 and 1:80 are not protective and may interfere with vaccination.2
